"I have no idea what I'm doing"

Jaiden, born on September 27, 1997, known online as Jaiden Animations, is an Arizona-born "animate-my-life" YouTuber, much similar Domics, Katzun, Tabbes and TheOdd1sOut. She is also one of the biggest YouTube animators on the site.

Much similar them, she covers stories from her life, too as general small fun facts near herself and then animates them for a YouTube audience. Her videos cover a range of topics like stories about her parents, vacations, her fears, random thoughts she tends to have and her experiences with instruments and reality Television set. Along with that, she also does collaboration videos with other YouTubers like TheOdd1sOut and Draw with Jazza, has collaborated with Game Grumps in several multiplayer games and toured with in alive drawing events (with Egoraptor and Ross O'Donovan in particular), and has occasional vlogs with her pet bird Ari and has fifty-fifty fabricated a drove of "I Has Cupquake Animated" videos, which tin can be seen on her channel.

Jaiden's channel can be found here, Her Twitter can be found here and her DeviantArt can be found here.

Not to be confused with Chinese studio Jade Animation.

Jaiden Animations provide examples of:

  • Actually Pretty Funny: Jaiden was genuinely impressed by a seemingly thirteen twelvemonth old's pickup line:

Child: Volition you hold something for me?
Jaiden: O-Okay? What is information technology?
    Kid: My hand.
("Careless Whisper" blares in the background)

  • Affectionate Parody: Jaiden and Alpharad's SoulLink Nuzlocke names the rival character after January of "Pokémon Challenges", who had been making critiques of their Nuzlockes, with Jaiden making it clear that she had no intention of offending him with information technology. Jan himself reacted to the video later and establish it Really Pretty Funny (with his one quibble beingness that Jaiden mispronounced his proper noun).
  • Alternating Character Interpretation: In-universe; in her Ruddy Nuzlocke video, Jaiden (somewhat jokingly) interprets Steven Stone'due south Armaldo as her Anorith having joined up to get revenge for being relegated to the box.
  • Alternate Universe: Invoked in the Platinum Nuzlocke video to explain the elite 4 do-over subsequently an extremely unlucky bad ending as an "alternating Jaiden" created by Giratina in the Distortion Globe.
  • An Aesop:
    • "Things about Relationships I wish someone told me about": "you're not responsible for someone else's happiness." If someone's distressing or depressed, it's on them to correct this behavior. Also, define your boundaries, and don't permit anyone make yous break them; if they do, they're causing emotional abuse, and they're not worth your time. Toxic people will often fish for compliments, resort to emotional abuse (gaslighting, guilt tripping, etc.), and threaten to hurt you or themselves to go what they want from y'all instead of ever admit that how they act is incorrect. You aren't responsible for making them happy at the price of your own happiness, and if they aren't willing to change and meliorate themselves, then cutting them loose earlier they drag you down with them.
    • Her "Getting into Fitness and Health" video drops a few lessons near club'due south unhealthy obsession with losing weight (or edifice muscle) as the exist-all end-goal of "wellness and fettle," especially at the expense of giving your torso the nutrients and exercise it needs to experience good and function well.
    • "Being Non Straight": "Being aromantic and asexual are valid sexual identities and deserve more recognition in media".
  • Annoying Laugh: At least Jaiden herself thinks then anyways.
  • Animal Motif: Justified because of her love of birds and in that location are plenty of references to birds in her videos; equally shown by her pet conures, Ari and Tofu. In her Pokémon videos, she's shown to possess bird-themed Pokémon. In some videos; you can encounter three small bird tattoos on her right forearm.
  • Animation Bump: A small one in her video "My Opinion on Airports", as it was given by a invitee animator. When explaining that moving sidewalks would be a proficient replacement for cars and roads, she says that you could just run to become to where you want to go actress quick. This is shown with an over the top activity shot of Jaiden bursting into a sprint. This follows into her other videos, where the animation can be much more fluid and expressive in some parts; the dance Ranger!Jaiden does to Team Dim Lord's day'due south battle theme is a adept example.
  • Animesque: The scene in "The History of my Hair" where Jaiden'due south hairs blow away in the current of air is a parody of an anime scene, with cherry flower petals floating in the air and Jaiden getting big anime eyes.
  • Arch-Enemy: In her Animal Crossing video, a snooty villager named Sue E. becomes Jaiden's nemesis due to her rudeness.
  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: In the HeartGold/SoulSilver randomized SoulLink, Jacob has to face Lance's Porygon-Z, Rampardos, Lickilicky, Zapdos... and Plusle.
  • Art Shift: "Why I Don't Have a Face Reveal" is washed in a much less fluid manner, with few colors and a more sketch-similar feel to information technology.
  • Ascended Extra: Along with other animators, Jaiden got bumped up from the end credits to the main video for Rewind 2018... while also sneaking in PewDiePie's chair for her segment. Note the smug wink to the camera.
  • Awesome McCoolname: Downplayed, Jaiden and Jaxon (Jax)
  • Bait-and-Switch Comment: In "Burnout & Overworking Yourself", a hypothetical friend tells Jaiden that they're going to run fifty miles, and won't eat, sleep, or take care of themselves until they're finished. Jaiden responds that such a affair is a terrible thought... because the person would need sunscreen offset.
  • Berserk Push: Jaiden has some strong opinions on impersonators and people who utilise "KYS" equally an insult.

Jaiden: Don't impersonate people.... Okay, I was going to stop this video by saying "Don't impersonate people, and f*ck off" but I couldn't bring myself to do it.

  • Bestiality Is Depraved: This exchange.

Fan: Am I baka for having a crush on Ari? >.< Me no baka, chuu~!
    (beat)
    Jaiden: Yikes.

  • All-time Served Cold: During a horrendous group project, the girls she was working with ended up giving her a 24-hour interval to end because of their laziness, and to boot the audio went mode over the time limit and perchance had to be candy beyond abridging it, resulting in her spending eight hours working herself one-half to decease. One of the girls checked on the video half an 60 minutes earlier it was due and gave an ungrateful reply when Jaiden confirmed it was finished, and Jaiden was too wearied for a "The Reason You lot Suck" Speech, prompting her to create end credits for the video crediting herself for everything except the other girls' narration, apparently including "hurting & suffering", equally a form of passive-aggressive revenge.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: When a Strawman starts acting upward, Jaiden pulls out a scalpel and cheerfully asks him what kind of incision he thinks the blade will create on his caput.
  • Big Footling Brother: Her younger brother Jaxon is depicted as being taller than Jaiden.
  • Bilingual Bonus:
    • Co-ordinate to the subtitles, the Japanese kid in "How to Make Life More Interesting" said:
    • From "What my trip to Japan was like", when Jaiden's dad tries to inquire for directions from a local:
  • Birthday Episode: When it's Ari's altogether, she publishes videos celebrating this.
  • Bloodshot Ending: Her Pokémon Platinum Nuzlocke video ends this fashion. In-universe, Jaiden realizes she's in an alternate timeline created later Giratina split her in 2 in the Baloney World; in the original timeline, she wiped out confronting the Elite Iv earlier she even made it to Cynthia, with her entire team getting killed note In reality, Jaiden gave upwards after she lost half her team in the first two fights against Aaron and Bertha, since the remainder of her team was weak against Fire-types and didn't accept a chance against Burn specialist Flintstone. But she and her chat agreed that since information technology was a birthday stream, she should try again. In this timeline, Jaiden wins and becomes the new Champion, but loses one-half her team to Cynthia's Garchomp in the process. And with the knowledge of both timelines and another version of her losing and so horribly, Jaiden is and then overwhelmed with guilt that she finds the victory hollow and doesn't believe she deserves information technology.
  • Blatant Lies: Upon landing in Arizona whilst having hives, she claims that her parents were "very calm" most the situation.

Jaiden's Mom: (grabs Jaiden'due south face) Hives?! Who- Are yous okay, w- How'd you get hives; are yous okay?!
(Jaiden's dad sweats in the background)

  • Born Lucky: Jaiden jokes nearly this of her SoulSilver Nuzlocke partner, Jacob Alpharad, a Running Gag carrying over from his own channel(s). She not but starts the video highlighting his 50/50 Pokémon Nuzlocke winning streak, only describes how he near always gets favorable Pokémon encounters, gift Pokémon, and piece of cake battles. Meanwhile, Jaiden tends to get lackluster Pokémon and VERY difficult battles.
  • Brick Joke: At the beginning of the SoulSilver Nuzlocke, Jaiden and Jacob proceed running into Palkia, who Google says is vulnerable to Salamence. The two proceed to, in her words, bully Palkia past repeatedly commenting that they wish they had a Salamence. Fastforward to the final battle, and Lance has a Palkia on his team for Jaiden. Cue Jaiden proverb, "I could actually use a Salamence right about now..."
  • Bumbling Dad: For the most role, Jaiden's dad averts this, simply "What my trip to Japan was like" plays it more directly. When trying to navigate the airport, Jaiden, her mom, and Jax end up losing her dad for a good half an hour, Jaiden admits that her dad (and Jax) really but cared about the nutrient in Japan while she and her mom were fully taking in the culture, and nearly tellingly, he feebly attempts to find a local who tin can speak English language, making himself look like a fool in the procedure.
  • Censored for Comedy: She hardly ever swears. And if she does, it'll either be a Curse Cut Short or this. In "Things near Relationships I wish someone told me almost," she says that 1 must occasionally look in the mirror and wonder "Am I existence an asshole?" Non only is the word censored as "a**pigsty" in the captions, just the first part of the word is bleeped out by a loud bass tone, with an prototype of Ari covering the speaker's mouth as they say it.
  • Character Development:
  • Cheaters Never Prosper: During Alpharad's Cup Pong Invitational, Jaiden wore cargo pants to smuggle in a can of Coca-Cola, and used information technology to ransom the referee, Joe, into removing a cup. This act would carry her and LLDrifts, her teammate, into the finals, but the two unfortunately concluded upwardly losing to Ted Nivison and Ethan Nestor.
  • Chekhov's Gun: When Jaiden starts training Zipzapzop in her Pokémon Cerise Nuzlocke video, she makes a huge rant about the sheer number of Marills she had to kill in order to get Zipzapzop up to par with the residuum of the party. While she doesn't explicate this (and might not have fifty-fifty realized it at the fourth dimension), it was the HP EVs from those Marills that gave Zipzapzop plenty HP to later just barely tank that quadruple-constructive earthquake attack with only ii HP to spare.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Jaiden had a Pirates of the Caribbean-obsessed Keet for a high school fine art teacher, who often blared random POTC soundtrack remixes to his students' chagrin, randomly challenged students to duels, and at one point, ran into the room dressed as a pirate and ran around like a lunatic, causing Jaiden to drop his class. He was also a tennis teacher, and one day inexplicably tried to leap over the net, causing him to faceplant when his foot was caught on the net and giving him two black eyes. If his ex-wife's reaction to this latter incident is whatsoever indication, he had injured himself prior to this.
  • Clung on Tight: In "I Don't Similar the Dentist", Jaiden's childhood fear of the dentist is emphasized through her clinging onto her mom's leg, with her mom trying to milkshake her off.
  • Colour Motif: Majestic. Many of her thumbnails feature the color royal in some caste, and her toon avatar is typically drawn with a majestic shirt in fanart.
  • Companion Cube: Compares her teacher to Oscar the Grouch's hypothetical pet lemon.
  • Composite Grapheme: In her HeartGold/SoulSilver SoulLink Nuzlocke, due to Jaiden playing as the male child and Alpharad playing equally the daughter, Jaiden combines the NPC versions of Lyra and Ethan into a unmarried, unnamed grapheme. Jaiden simply calls them "neighbor".
  • Crazy Jealous Guy: Described Ari as being very jealous of anyone who is friendly with her. Especially her mom.
  • Crouching Moron, Subconscious Badass: Jasmine turns out to be this in "I Attempted a Two Player Nuzlocke". The entire time, she acts like a Moe to try and go Jaiden and Jacob to get Amphy'due south medicine in Cianwood Metropolis, simply they aren't having whatever of it, since they about died trying to climb Olivine Lighthouse. Once they exercise the work she'southward supposed to practice, her reward for them is having Jaiden fight her Lugia and Deoxys, nonetheless acting as absentmindedly cute as ever, all while Jaiden is bashing her face into a back up beam in anger.
  • Cutting the Knot: In her get-go 2 Pokémon Nuzlocke videos, Jaiden encounters powerful Legendary Pokémon blocking her way. Since contesting them would likely effect in her losing team members, she but uses the Master Brawl on Groudon and Giratina to immediately catch them and carry on with the game.

Jaiden: Then I went in there, walked upward to Groudon... and Primary Balled him immediately. At that place's no way I'm gonna fight Groudon!

  • Daddy Issues: Averted. In the early days of her channel, some very curious fans were wondering why Jaiden never brought up her father, bold that something happened that made Jaiden not include him (like divorce or abuse). Turns out Jaiden but hadn't animated anything that involved him nevertheless, which Jaiden lampshaded when she first brought up her dad in a video.invoked
  • Darker and Edgier: Due to suffering from an extremely unfortunate defeat at the hands of the Elite four, her Pokémon Platinum Nuzlocke video was noticeably grimmer than her previous Crimson Nuzlocke video. The aforementioned cannot be said for the SoulLink Randomized Nuzlocke with Alpharad that followed it, though.
  • Death by De-aging: Discussed/averted in Random Thoughts (Part ii Edition). Jaiden theorizes that if you sit in the Fountain of Youth for too long, yous somewhen turn into your own parents.
  • Death Seeker: Briefly becomes one in "The worst thing that's ever happened to me". After she was initially prescribed with an epipen, she went to sleep feeling relieved, only to wake upward 8 hours after with her hives flared up to their absolute worst, leading Jaiden to want to close her eyes once again and dice on the spot. Luckily, her dad rushed her back to urgent care and got a succinct medication program from family friend Dr. Cruz, and then she was cured fast enough to non provoke any suicidal intent.
  • Denser and Wackier: Not that she wasn't funny before, simply a lot of her earlier videos were fairly straightforward storytime animations with most of the humor coming from "Not Making This Up" Disclaimer too every bit Jaiden'southward very endearing awkwardness. Past now, her videos are all much more cartoonish with exaggerations of actual events, snarky comments, and Jaiden herself moving by her soft-spoken nature to go a Large Ham on occasion.
  • Department of Redundancy Section: In her "Random Thoughts" video, she realizes she wrote down "half popped popcorn" downwardly twice.

Jaiden: I guess past Jaiden felt actually compelled to talk nigh half-popped popcorn. Information technology is really expert, though.

  • The Disease That Shall Not Exist Named: The eating disorder Jaiden had sounds a lot similar bulimia, with excessive fasting and "purging" being the main indicators, but it'southward never named in any video in which she discusses it.
  • Dissonant Placidity: She recalls in her "Substitute Teachers" video where one just looked at a daughter choking on a carrot... doing goose egg while a child did the Heimlich.
  • The Door Slams You: At one point in 4th grade, Jaiden was nearly whacked in the face by a bath stall door due to an incredibly stupid and inconsiderate girl deciding to boot the door open. The only reason Jaiden was only "near" hitting in the confront is because karate reflexes allowed her to block the door with her arm. She notes that any other passerby probably wouldn't take been able to protect herself.
  • Dramatic Air current: In "The History of my Pilus", strands of Jaiden's hair fly away, "like burs in the wind," illustrated with pieces of Jaiden'due south hair dramatically flight away in a stream of flower petels and Jaiden, at present with big anime optics, watching them float.
  • The Dying Walk: When Tate's Solrock melts Zipzapzop with Fire Blast, Zipzapzop weakly floats over to Jaiden until collapsing, earlier Squidward the Tentacruel sprays him like a fire extinguisher.
  • Early Installment Graphic symbol-Design Deviation:
    • In videos from the early years of Jaiden'southward channel, her hair was drawn in a ponytail, and can withal be seen during end cards. Her hair has since been fatigued allow down in future installments, even in stories taking identify in college, when she withal would've had the ponytail.
    • Jaiden likewise used describe herself with a bigger head when she wasn't drawn on purpose as a chibi.
  • Exact Words: In "My Childhood Obsession with Animals", Jaiden talks about the time she desperately wanted a mouse. She thought that she could force her parents to get her i by writing it on her Christmas wishlist. Her parents did get her a mouse... but it was a computer mouse.
  • Confront–Heel Plough: Implied with her Anorith Gary in her Pokémon Ruby Nuzlocke.

Jaiden: Steven's last Pokémon was Armaldo — Gary's final revenge for getting booted from the team.

  • Fangirl: Is notably 1 for CatDog. In collab videos off her channel, she makes rather random references to CatDog every at present and so, such as asking what CatDog's pronouns are, and when she was invited onto a Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl tournament where bidders become to select what characters the players choose, she uploaded a short animation to her channel where she begged her viewers to let her play every bit CatDog.
  • Felony Misdemeanor: When she was younger, Jaiden went out to walk her dog without telling her parents. For reasons unknown fifty-fifty to her, the sight of some reasonably concerned police force officers freaked her out and acquired her to book information technology back home with the cruiser shut backside.
  • Flair Bartending: Or rather, Flair Medical Exercise. Upon beingness administered to Dr. Cruz, he proves to be quite the showman, including having a "Eureka!" Moment upon seeing Jaiden's hives and spinning an epipen on his finger before stabbing her with it.
  • Flat "What": Her mother when Jaiden jokingly tells her she's a grandmother (to Ari).
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus:
    • While searching for "Virtually Annoying Girl Names" to give to her grouping project classmates, i of Google'due south superlative resulting lists includes... "Jayden."
    • invoked There are several Easter eggs on her shelf in her contribution to Rewind, which includes a Boom alphabetic character, a Japanese bonsai tree in reference to the infamous Logan Paul suicide woods video, a boxing trophy based on Logan Paul vs KSI, a "Sociopaths 101" volume in reference to Jake Paul, "Submarine 2 PewDiePie", a squirrel in reference to iDubbbzTV, a basin of spaghetti (actually a reference to "Somebody affect my spaghet!" and not "Bowwow Lasagna" like many assumed) and Ugandan Duke.
    • In her "I Attempted a Pokemon Platinum Nuzlocke" video, right almost the end, during all of the glitchy animations showing her failed original attempt at the Elite Four, there's 1 frame where her Togekiss can be seen impaled on some rock spikes correct before Aaron's fight.
    • When she and Alpharad release the Legendary Beasts in "I Attempted a Two Player Nuzlocke", Suicune is slumped over unconscious on Entei'due south back instead of running like the other ii as a nod to how Alpharad killed one by blow earlier in the video.
  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: In her video nearly toxic relationships, she states that toxic people fish for compliments rather than take responsibleness for what went wrong in their life. You lot have no responsibility for making them happy and y'all'll drive yourself crazy justifying their deportment. If they tin can't utilize those experiences constructively or movement on from them, and so exit.
  • From Bad to Worse:
    • Jaiden gets an Uber driver to pick her upward after her trip to Japan, but thank you to vague directions, he drops her off at the wrong firm. Jaiden pretends to go within, hoping the owners don't run across her as she hides behind the firm, waiting for the commuter to exit. After he does, Jaiden crosses the street, tries to become within her house... and the door is locked. Her roommate is gone, meaning Jaiden has to wait 3 hours for her to come domicile. Unwilling to slumber outside the house to pass the fourth dimension, she ends upward catching another Uber to hang out with her roommate, but because she wasn't able to slumber on the plane, she's besides tired to even function, let alone enjoy the trip out.
    • During one ski trip when she was x, Jaiden's dad accidentally brings her and Jax up a double black diamond trail (aptly described past Jaiden as "you will DIE if you become on hither as a child"), and by the time he realizes his mistake, information technology's besides belatedly. Equally he tries to think of what to do, gravity takes Jax and he speeds down the mountain. When he falls to break speed per their dad'due south instruction, he ends upward doing a screaming starfish note a crash where you cartwheel down a slope. As people go to help him later on he finally manages to stop, Jaiden is freaking out; her merely manner downwards is a slope she simply watched her lilliputian brother collapse down, and she doesn't know if he made it there even vaguely okayish. Luckily, a kind snowboarder helps her downwards, simply that ways a boring, terrifying trip sliding inch-by-inch on her barrel down a slope she describes as "almost vertical downward death with a bunch of moguls". The poor girl is traumatized and angry by the time she gets down, and judging past her refusal to buy a souvenir, the entire trip is ruined for her.
    • Her debilitating example of hives one year when she visited her family for Christmas. Each flair-up was worse than the concluding, and just when she idea she'd experienced the worst, an even more than intense case sucker-punched her. It got to the point that she was red and itchy and experiencing such intense hurting/discomfort all over that she couldn't move, as fifty-fifty the slightest brush to her skin sent shockwaves of pain across her system. Thankfully, a medico who was also a family friend managed to get her the right medication and diagnosis that kept it from coming dorsum.
    • This applied on two dissever occasions in her SoulLink Randomized Nuzlocke. The first example was with Gym Leader Chuck, whose Kingdra proved to exist more than a friction match for her unabridged team disallowment Obamatar the Abomasnow. His 2nd Pokemon was Froslass, whose Snowfall Cloak ability immune her to constantly avoid attacks from Obamatar due to their ain Snow Warning ability setting up the hail that activates it. On top of that, Froslass's Ominous Current of air move additional all of her stats ii turns in a row (which is a one% chance, by the way). The second case was against Champion Lance, who had a Palkia, who Jaiden had no answer for whatsoever. And the one Pokemon she did accept that stood any chance at all, Mewtwo, was immediately killed by a critical hit. In both instances, Jaiden had to resort to stalling out her opponent to death with whatever Pokemon she had left until they finally went down... and in the latter instance, reminded the audience that Lance yet had three Pokemon left, and she had to stall for another ten minutes on his final Pokemon, Azumarril.
  • Gag Haircut: Jaiden discusses how important a good haircut is in "The History of my Hair" considering a bad haircut gives off a first impression that you make terrible decisions. This is illustrated by a horrified woman meeting someone with hideously-cut yellow, light-green, and pink pilus.
  • Gayngst: In "Being Not Directly", Jaiden comes out as aroace — that is, Jaiden feels no romantic or sexual attraction to anyone, and never has. In the video, Jaiden cites life stories of how she came to realize that she never felt whatsoever sort of romantic or intimate attraction to people, only attempting to find a shell or go along a date because of the social stigma surrounding being in a human relationship. Jaiden says that she felt like it was something she "had" to do, and describes her struggles with forcing herself to try and conform. Jaiden fifty-fifty admits that she once thought she was bisexual or pansexual (attraction to both men and women, and attraction to whatsoever gender, respectively), if only considering someone's gender didn't seem to touch her choices. It was merely when she constitute out nearly the aroace sexuality through a Wiki Walk that Jaiden establish something that fit her.
  • Gender-Blender Proper name: In "I Attempted my Outset Pokemon Nuzlocke", Jaiden names a Machop "Chad" even though it's female person.

Jaiden: What? Y'all're a female? (beat) DID I STUTTER?

  • Gonky Femme: Equally a Machop/Machoke, Chad looks like a muscular man, simply is fatigued with feminine mannerisms and accessories such as a flower backside her ear or a mourning veil.
  • Gosh Dang It to Heck!: She inappreciably always swears. She'due south either used a unlike word, cut herself off before saying the whole discussion, or but flat-out censored it altogether. Though, in her video "Flirting & My Stories," she said the word "douchebag" uncensored. Some other time in "What my trip to Nihon was like" she says "bitch" uncensored twice, though she was referring to PewDiePie's "Bitch Lasagna" in both cases, so it wasn't really her sentiment.
  • Grand Finale: Her SoulLink Randomized Nuzlocke with Alpharad is this to her Nuzlocke series, as revealed in the end credits. Apparently, it's not this to her videos on the whole.
  • Grievous Harm with a Body: Her Pokémon Nuzlockes humorously depict early battles as picking upwardly her Pokémon and using them to bludgeon the opponent's Pokémon.
  • Guinness Episode: "I Attempted a Speedrun (and got a earth record)" is nigh her becoming the first person in the world to speedrun Cooking Mama 2: Dinner With Friends, and therefore holding the world record at the fourth dimension.
  • Hard Truth Aesop: In the video nearly toxic relationships, Jaiden explains that you shouldn't stay with someone who chooses to wallow in cocky-compassion and grief instead of take responsibleness for their own lives. If someone chooses to brand y'all responsible for making them happy, you should leave because you lot may not have the appropriate skills and qualifications to fix them and you lot can't ignore your own bug for their sake.
  • Detest at First Sight: Jaiden jokes nigh this in her "I Attempted a Ii Thespian Nuzlocke" video, as many Trainer, Gym Leader, and Aristocracy Four battles involve her having to fight Legendaries, while her buddy Jacob gets much easier opponents. Jacob also gets three fully-evolved Pokemon as starter choices from Professor Elm; Jaiden gets the useless Wynaut, the Com Mon Ariados, and the Fragile Speedster Mankey.
  • Hates Existence Touched: Inverted. She'south less agape of existence touched and more than afraid of her touching someone and freaking them out with how cold her hand naturally is.
  • Hell Is That Racket: Considers loud toilet flushing noises to be this.
  • He-Human being Adult female Hater: When in the non-U.K. passport customs line, Jaiden ran into a guy who made it clear in no time flat that he believes all girls are selfish. The fact that he acted nice to Jaiden and constantly tried to brand minor talk with her made things all the more than awkward, almost to the point of him being a Boomerang Bigot.
  • Heroic Mime: In "I Attempted a Two Thespian Nuzlocke", Alpharad is this, beingness placidity in the animations 99% of the time, his voice simply being heard in the gameplay segments, and the i line he has is said by Jaiden herself.
  • Heroic RRoD: Describes getting hives like this. Thanks to an credible combination of stress and overexertion, Jaiden got hives in December 2019. Somewhen, she was itching so badly and in so much pain that she could hardly move, to the indicate of starting to weep from the pain. She describes it as the worst thing that's e'er happened to her.
  • Heroic Cede:
    • In her Ruby Nuzlocke video, she frames Zipzapzop the Magneton's death every bit this, pushing Sin the Duskull out of the manner of a Solrock's Flamethrower.
    • In her Platinum Nuzlocke video, Failure the Shinx takes a fatal attack from a Hail-empowered Froslass so Jaiden can purchase time to heal up Squoop the Gastrodon and set upwardly Rain Trip the light fantastic toe to negate the Hail.
  • High Heel Hurt: Jaiden dislikes wearing heels, though non because they hurt, rather because she'due south clumsy when wearing them.
  • High-Pressure Emotion: When she gets to the end of her successful run in Rhythm Heaven Fever and starts Remix 10, her face up is red, and steam is spewing out of her ears.
  • Hipster: The guy who believes girls are inherently selfish seemed to be one, as when Jaiden pulled out her phone, he questioned why everybody seemed to accept iPhones, only to pull out a Google Pixel.
  • Property Hands: She and James did a video doing this on Twitter after seeing a petition.
  • Hope Spot: In "The worst thing that's ever happened to me", Jaiden appears to accept finally gotten rid of hives, but it kept coming back worse than ever before information technology was finally cured.
  • I Did What I Had to Do: When visiting the Studio Ghibli Museum, Jaiden was prepared to accept photos, but concluded up not when she plant out that photography and filming weren't permitted in it. That said, she did snag a picture show of the children's play area .
  • If It'south You, It'due south Okay: A retroactive instance. Jaiden came out as aroace in "Being Not Straight", whereas earlier in "I Attempted a Pokemon Platinum Nuzlocke", she seemed to show some attraction to Cynthia, non only through stuttering and having hearts in her eyes when first meeting her, but also treating Cynthia equally if she was her boss when being asked to deliver the Sometime Amuse to her grandmother.
  • Illness Blanket: In "Injuries and Being Sick", all the sick people in the video are drawn wrapped in blankets if they're not in bed.
  • Inherently Funny Words:
    • Jaiden'southward Nuzlocke videos explain the nicknaming requirement of the challenge past using Pokemon with goofy names as examples. The starting time video has the relatively tame Mayo the Jigglypuff, but the latter 2 accept Fubby Juice the Pikachu and Spagooblio the Furret.
    • In her randomized SoulLink Nuzlocke, Jaiden and Jacob decide to make naming their new double Pokémon acquisitions easier on themselves (since they take to give both Pokémon the same nickname) by combining the Pokémon's names. Jaiden takes full comedic advantage of this by giving them airheaded names like "Plapp" for Piplup and Flaaffy, "Dillydoo" for Cradily and Silcoon, and "Dodei" for Entei and Doduo.
  • Inside Joke: When she was younger, Jaiden spoke with a noticeable lisp and would request her Trademark Favorite Food at the fourth dimension as "Pathta with No Thauthe". Equally a result all the way into her developed life, her family would occasionally tease her past reminding her of this Verbal Tic.
  • Instant Expert: She'due south very good at playing musical instruments. She played the flute for a while considering, despite being told that it was hard to play the flute, Jaiden got a note out of the flute on her start try.
  • Irony: In a two-fold case in her SoulLink Randomized Nuzlocke, Alpharad caught a whopping four Legendary Pokemon. But when it came time to construct teams to bring to the Aristocracy 4, Jaiden got to bring two Legendary Pokemon while Alpharad non only didn't have a single one, simply was as well forced to use a squad consisting of almost entirely Com Mons, incuding a Beautifly... and still, Alpharad still had a much easier time with the Elite iv and Champion compared to Jaiden, with the first two deaths between the two costing her the two Legendaries in question.
  • Information technology Seemed Like a Skillful Idea at the Time: When Jaiden was in fourth course, another girl at her schoolhouse inexplicably decided to kicking a bath stall door open up with no regard for passersby... while Jaiden was walking past. Luckily, Jaiden was able to shield herself considering she had fast reflexes from karate lessons and the idiot loudly appear "I'm gonna boot the door open!", alerting her to what was about to happen. However, Jaiden got a nasty bruise on her arm, and she notes that had information technology been anyone else passing by, the poor girl would have taken the full burden of the door and probably been seriously injured.
  • Jerkass: When recounting run-ins with impersonators, she encountered one particular 1 on Twitter with a Pilus-Trigger Atmosphere and tried pulling a Wounded Gazelle Gambit on her and James (albeit one that exaggerated the harassment Jaiden was trying to repent over). They even went equally far as calling their police due to what is implied to be serious harassment. Albeit Jaiden idea her fanbase telling them to kill themselves every bit their Cyberspace Counter Attack was going manner too far.
  • Kid-anova: In "Babyhood Stories", Jaiden mentions having a run in with a kid who seemed to be 13 when she was effectually 16. She was quite impressed with his pickup line.

Kid: Volition you lot hold something for me?
    Jaiden: O-Okay? What is it?
    Kid: My hand.

  • Knows a Guy Who Knows a Guy: Jaiden's mom has a network of friends in a variety of occupations. Luckily, one such friend was an accountant who helped Jaiden and her family go the certification they needed to fly out of Minneapolis to Canada afterwards their passports had expired.
    • This trope comes to her rescue over again when she visits her family for Christmas, and is aggress with a debilitating case of hives. After several doctors tin't figure out how to proceed them at bay for more a few hours, a family friend who's a medico not only gives her the correct medication to keep them gone for good, but seems to correctly diagnose the cause (stress coupled with a glitch in the immune organization) and Jaiden has remained hives-free always since.
  • Honey to Detest: In-Universe, Jaiden loves that Animal Crossing NPCs had a lot of snarky jerks that were just fun to detest, particularly Sue E..
  • Malicious Compliance: In "Animal Crossing used to exist and then much darker...", Sue E. commanded Jaiden to change the town tune. Despite non commonly being a "large boondocks melody-changer", she proceeds to do and so, changing it to the highest-pitched note possible existence played fifteen times, followed by the "?" note that comes later that.

Jaiden: Is that amend, Sue Due east.? You like that?

  • Missed the Omnibus: Likewise Days v & 7, when they didn't have the train at all, Jaiden'southward family ends upward taking the incorrect train on every day of their holiday to Nihon. There'south a Double Subversion on Day 6, where Jaiden (seemingly through the wisdom h2o from Solar day four kicking in) convinces her family unit to not get on the wrong train, simply when coming back to the hotel from the Sega arcade, they got on the wrong train anyway.
  • My God, Y'all Are Serious!: In "Being Not Straight", she describes a moment of listening to a random beloved song in the auto — and suddenly realising the feelings described are non an exaggeration or a joke — every bit helping her to figure out why she constitute the concept of romance and then confusing. She has a text-based response of this nature with people who crush on celebrities, which she says sounds "exhausting".

Jaiden: (thinking) Look, do people really feel these things? They're not joking?!

  • "Not Making This Up" Disclaimer: "My Feel with Sports" includes home video and photos of her participating in described sports, including i where Jaiden kept pushing a stage fright-ridden girl to the side during a trip the light fantastic recital.
  • Ocular Gushers: Jaiden's representation of her bawling her eyes out as a kid whenever she had to go to the dentist is this.
  • Once Washed, Never Forgotten: Every bit a child, she had a lisp, and when her Italian babysitter asked what she wanted for tiffin, Jaiden would always say, "pathta with no thauthe." note Pasta with no sauce Needless to say, her family never lets her hear the finish of it whenever they have pasta for dinner together.
  • Out-of-Genre Experience: "Empty", a full-blown Music Video with Boyinaband about their struggles with eating disorders.
  • Out of Focus: Probable due to the pandemic acquired by the Coronavirus, Jaiden starting from mid 2020, has shifted to almost exclusively gaming-related animations and collabs with other Youtubers. As a event, most of the events that defined her reputation as i of the nigh well known storytime animators too every bit staples such equally Ari and her family have been put aside in terms of screentime.
  • Overly Long Gag: In the "Samurai Heir-apparent" video, with each email to Misaki, she adds additional redundant signatures—starting with but "Jaiden, JaidenAnimations" and somewhen extending to "Jaiden, JaidenAnimation, JaidenAnimations, Maiden Animations, Jaiden Animation, Jaiden Animates, Jaiden Draws."
  • Overly Narrow Summit: Jaiden once held the World Record for an all Gold Medals Speedrun of Cooking Mama two: Dinner With Friends...namely cause, she was also the merely person to actually do an all Gold Medals Speed Run of the Game, at the fourth dimension!
  • Pants-Free: Different her May cosplay in her Pokémon Ruby Nuzlocke and her Ethan cosplay in her Pokémon SoulSilver Nuzlocke, Jaiden's cosplay of Dawn in her Pokémon Platinum Nuzlocke has a visible lack of pants or underwear. This leads to her butt cheeks existence shown off a couple of times.
  • Paper Tiger: Jaiden and Jacob are absolutely scared of Jan wiping out their entire team, particularly in the Burned Belfry where he has a Mew, but he ends up being a pushover in every boxing they face up him in.
  • Perverted Sniffing: When she catches a Tentacool just outside of Slateport Urban center, her starting time instinct is to sniff the back of its head intensely, provoking her to nickname it "Squidward".
  • A Pig Named "Porkchop": A variation in Jaiden'due south Nuzlocke playthrough of Pokémon Ruby, where she names her Torchic (a Pokémon based off a babe chicken) "Teriyaki," as a joke on teriyaki craven.
  • Pink Is Erotic: In "Being Not Directly", Jaiden uses the color pinkish to stand for feelings of romance and sexual attraction (called intimacy in the video) while explain how she never felt either of those things due to being aromantic and asexual. In the video, she talks about being asexual every bit a woman in a pink bikini is shown, she uses a metaphorical beat lenses to see if she finds anyone attractive, and she uses a blushing smiley face up to represent her ain feelings of sexual attraction and arousal.
  • Precision F-Strike: Subverted. In the end of her video on impersonation, she mentions that she wanted to say "don't impersonate people and f*ck off" as an ironic twist, merely couldn't bring herself to swear uncensored.
    • In "Living With Ari", she plays the beginning line of iDubbbzTV's RiceGum disstrack, which contains the word "fucked", completely uncensored. This was either done because she figured that since the song wasn't her content, censoring it would seem inappropriate or she forgot to censor it while editing.
    • Played direct, simply non in one of her own videos. In the Behind the Scenes video of her music video for Empty, she curses, completely uncensored, when messing up a line. Granted though, this is because it wasn't on her own channel and information technology may have been due to the content of the line causing a Natural language Twister incident.
    • Jaiden calls her two projection partners "twats" in My Horrible Nightmare Grouping Project due to them being The Load during said project. She later elaborates on this in some other video when saying she doesn't swear, stating that the word was never considered a swear in her household and so she just considers it a normal word.
  • Queer Colors: Jaiden uses these in "Beingness Not Straight". The thumbnail is Jaiden standing in front of a rainbow flag, meant to represent LGBT people equally a whole. Throughout the video, she uses the colors from the asexual flag (black, gray, white, royal) and aromantic flag (dark green, green, white, grayness, black) to represent herself, every bit well equally a combination of the two on a T-shirt. Interestingly, there is some other flag for aroace people — orange, yellow, white, light blue, dark blueish — just those colors never come up in the video.
  • Race Against the Clock:
    • One of Jaiden's fears is that she tin can't stand time limits in video games, going as far that she could non go past level 2 of a SpongeBob game she endemic as a child considering of a department of the game where she had only 20 seconds to get to each checkpoint.

"Our lives are a fourth dimension limit if you think about information technology..."

    • "I tried to go to Canada but got stuck in Minneapolis" has this as Jaiden, her mom, and her brother accept an ever expanding listing of things they need to accomplish in lodge to renew the kids' passports and go to the airport in time to catch their flight to Canada. Hilarity Ensues every bit things keep happening to make things more and more complicated, though the end of the video shows Jaiden and her family unit managed to just barely get in on their flight in fourth dimension.
    • In higher, she had a project due at 6pm and the teacher strictly only allowed them to exist ten minutes tardily at virtually. She gets washed early on and lets a friend borrow her laptop to get her own project done. Due to them not paying attention to the time, they all of a sudden realize it's 5:45 and they have to get to the school computer lab, impress off their assignments, and hand them in. And Jaiden's friend wasn't done her project however. Cue them both freaking out, her friend being forced to cut corners, Jaiden having to scour her room for a title page to be stapled to the front, and them booking it to the lab (and for added stress, Jaiden's friend was having computer trouble when Jaiden herself got in that location). They get their projects handed in literally at the buzzer, to the bespeak where the professor, upon seeing Jaiden enter the room to hand her assignment in, only said "Run."
    • Somewhat played with in "I Attempted a Speedrun (and got a world record)". While Jaiden is trying to get the fastest time she tin can, considering that there is no precedent for a speedrun time, she was able to exist more relaxed with her run.
    • In "I Don't Like the Dentist", Jaiden proper noun drops this trope when describing that she only had a few weeks to pull out her last five infant teeth before an extraction appointment needed to be scheduled.
  • Random Events Plot: The whole nature of her "Random Thoughts" videos is to brand video on a slew of completely unrelated and even bizarre contemplations she had one day.
  • Real Dreams are Weirder: Jaiden's scariest nightmare is this. She was backed up in the corner of a pitch blackness room, equally Dash from The Incredibles, and a shark would periodically effort to bite her.

Jaiden: It sounds and then dumb when I say it out loud.

  • Refuge in Audacity: Jaiden managed to sneak a reference to Pewdiepie in one of the animations she made for Youtube Rewind 2018. This is noteworthy given that YouTube seems to be trying to distance themselves from him in spite of his popularity following several nasty PR incidents of his, and the short segment would probably non accept fabricated the cut had it been whatever more than obvious. Nevertheless, Jaiden has received praise, with some comments going as far as to say it's ane of the few redeeming moments of the whole Rewind.
  • Ridiculously Cute Critter: Ari, Jaiden's ambrosial green-cheeked conure.
  • Running Gag:
    • "Burnout & Overworking Yourself" has Jaiden come up with various analogies to brand her point nearly overworking, with the gag being that the subject of all the analogies remark that they actually are in the professions she's referring to.

      Jaiden: NO ONE ASKED YOU!

    • Her mom hyperventilating every fourth dimension something new pops upwards to problem her during the stay at Minneapolis.
    • Her Starter killing a Pokémon she was nearly to grab, which happens at least twice in every Nuzlocke video.
    • In "I Attempted a Two Player Nuzlocke", the running gag that her partner Jacob gets amazing randomized Pokémon encounters (legendaries, fully evolved Pokémon, etc.) while Jaiden herself often gets Com Mons. Then Jacob accidentally kills said amazing encounters earlier he tin can catch them.
    • As well in her 2 Player Nuzlocke, NPCs highly favoring Jacob by giving him both absurdly powerful gift Pokémon and absurdly like shooting fish in a barrel battle opponents, while those same NPCs seem to have Hate at Showtime Sight against Jaiden and gift her Com Mons against obscenely powerful battle opponants.
  • Sadist Teacher: Every bit told in her "Crazy Substitute Teachers" video, Jaiden had one teacher who was closer to a armed services officer then a substitute instructor, going equally far as to scold Jaiden for not correcting him when he pronounced her name wrong.
  • 2nd Place Is for Losers: Inverted. She actually prefers to be in 2d than in first considering of the pressure and judgement of being first.

    • When talking almost apples, she mentions that "braeburn" is a grapheme from My Piddling Pony: Friendship Is Magic, showing the character of Braeburn looking at a braeburn apple.
    • In "Things most Relationships I wish someone told me most" Jaiden mentions that near people don't wake up and say "Haha! I'm gonna exist super manipulative today" with the stand in character proverb this highly resembling Himiko Toga possessing both her fangs and iconic, messy blonde twin buns hairstyle.
    • In "My Childhood Obsession with Animals", Jaiden talks virtually how she got obsessed with birds and portrayed her graphic symbol standing in forepart of a bird cage. The birds are clearly based on the characters from Homestar Runner.
    • In "Things that Happened While I Grew Up", a pile of spaghetti boxes rains down from out of nowhere. Papyrus's face is visible at the top of the pile.
    • In "I Attempted a Speedrun (and got a earth record)", which involves doing a Speed Run on Cooking Mama, she begs for forgiveness from Mama, Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima.

    • In her video on Amazing Island, the opening lines of the Oingo Boingo Brothers' end credits vocal appear in a Wall of Text Jaiden is quickly mashing through.
      • From the aforementioned video, towards the end, Jaiden and her creations are seen doing the Canzoni Preferite trip the light fantastic toe.
  • Sick Episode: "Injuries and Beingness Sick" was about sickness. Jaiden was sick while making it, although she got better for the end carte.
  • The Snack Is More Interesting: Deconstructed in the SoulLink Nuzlocke. Jacob isn't paying attention to his fight in the Goldenrod Radio Tower because he's busy eating a chicken sandwich, which causes Obamatar, his Pupitar, to go killed by a Golem's Earthquake, resulting in Jaiden's Abomasnow getting killed, too. The gravestone says information technology all.

Sorry I got distracted by chicken sandwich, friend :(

  • Soup Is Medicine: In "Injuries and Being Ill", she illustrates people beingness sympathetic for sick people but worrying about contagion with an animation of her giving a sick human a bowl of soup with a stick.
  • Spaghetti Kiss: Lampshaded but ultimately subverted when Jaiden threw Ari his third birthday—Ari had made another bird friend named Babe Jim and the ii had a playdate for the party. At one betoken, both birds start eating the same strand of spaghetti and Jaiden immediately acknowledges the resemblance to Lady and the Tramp. Then, Ari takes the rest of the spaghetti and flies off.
  • Spell My Name with an "S": Ever since she was a child, Jaiden had a stuffed mouse toy named "Raul", merely since she didn't know how to spell Raul at the time, information technology's spelt every bit "Raoole".

Jaiden: I'thou in and then much hurting and discomfort, I tin can't remember straight, and I've been sitting on the floor not being able to motility for 30 minutes; what should I do?
Jaiden'due south Friend: Become to the hospital?
    Jaiden: You think so?
Jaiden's Friend: (furrowing brow) Yes, become to the infirmary...
Jaiden: I dunno, maybe if I simply wait a bit mo-
Jaiden's Friend: (reaches over the split screen and points at Jaiden) Go to the infirmary.

Jaiden: (dubbing over) Stealing all your hard work, ya bimbo!

    • "My Nightmare Group Projection" is a big one towards two unhelpful classmates she had to deal with. Though Jaiden did all of the work, her grouping totally didn't appreciate it, and Jaiden was too exhausted to call them out on it at the time.
    • In "Crazy Substitute Teachers", she remarks that a substitute teacher who failed to react to a girl choking on a carrot should start a reaction channel since he'd fit right in.
    • In Jaiden's Pokémom Ranger Video, when Team Dim-Sun detonates a bomb, the bomb resembles a Wii U!
    • After the release of "The Heed of Jake Paul," Jaiden has a lot of fun referring to Jake as a sociopath.
  • Taught by Goggle box: In "What my trip to Japan was like", she mentions how her family went to a shrine in Kyoto with many statues of Shinto gods, and she said she already knew about Raijin, "because it was the inspiration behind Thundurus."
  • Squad Rocket Wins: Despite Jan losing every fight he has with Jaiden and Jacob, he does manage to get one modest victory past knocking out their Darphels with Counter, which, fittingly plenty, Jan in his reaction mentions is one of the scariest moves to see in a Nuzlocke.
  • Tempting Fate: Her parents warned her to tie her shoelaces so they didn't get caught in her bike'southward wheels and make her fall over. Young!Jaiden scoffed at the notion...and so got her shoelaces caught in her bicycle's wheels and she fell over.

  • Unexpectedly Dark Episode:
    • "Why I Don't Have a Face up Reveal," which deals with Jaiden'due south struggles with anorexia and self-esteem issues. Information technology'south quite different from many of her previous works. She even lampshades this in the following video, acknowledging that many of her followers but concentrate on the fun stuff and aren't actually into her talking virtually personal things.
    • "I Attempted a Pokemon Platinum Nuzlocke" is also much less cheerful than her get-go Pokémon Ruby Nuzlocke. Part of this is due to the game having a much darker tone, part of it is because in Real Life, she lost her first run against the Elite Four, nonetheless felt so guilty about trying again that she wove information technology into the story. In-Universe, Jaiden becomes overwhelmed with guilt and existential doubt due to seeing flashes in a parallel universe of all her Pokémon dying horribly and her quest ending in failure, so she tin't enjoy her Pyrrhic Victory.
  • Unexplained Recovery: At the outset of the SoulLink Nuzlocke, Jacob ends up killing Suicune, and once he and Jaiden head into the Burned Tower, Entei is seen carrying Suicune'southward corpse on its back. • Workaholic: By Jaiden'southward ain admission, she works way too much. Brought to a Deconstruction in "Burnout & Overworking."
    • Jaiden expresses that working hard can exist beauteous, simply admiring them and pushing yourself likewise hard are very unhealthy things to do. She makes the comparison that you lot can admire someone who runs fifty miles, simply if that aforementioned runner was going to run 50 miles without stopping for annihilation, even their own wellness, you should not only not admire that, merely try to intervene earlier they hurt themselves.
    • She one time described a typical work solar day to a therapist, detailing how she wakes up at viii in the morning, goes to bed at i AM, and leaves very little time in between that for anything else besides work.
